NORTONS SUCCESSFUL IN INTERMEDIATE MERGER FILING

The Competition Commission of South Africa (CCSA) has approved the proposed transaction whereby Nortons Inc client, Mithratech, intends to acquire Chet Chemicals, a division of Libstar Operations Proprietary Limited, without conditions. Nortons’ Nicola Ilgner led the all-female team which included Marylla Govender and Nicci Van der Walt, to success in obtaining this approval. The Commission agreed that the proposed transaction is unlikely to substantially lessen or prevent competition in any market nor should it raise significant public interest concerns. The intermediate merger was filed in September 2024 with the Commission taking their decision on 29 October 2024.
